Fabrikate are Francis and Chuck — two guys digging into the past to uncover some long lost musical wisdom. The two Montreal natives always gravitated around the house and disco scene both from an industry and production perspective - Francis being at the helm of Unidisc Music, the 40+ year old celebrated Disco, Soul and Funk record label, and Chuck being a decorated Mixing and Mastering engineer, working with the likes of Carl Cox, Felix Da Housecat, Michael Gray and many others. Together they run Kookoo Records, a record label aimed at showcasing and curating avant-garde house, disco and electronic music in all of its subgenres. Since its inception in 2016, the label has seen phenomenal growth, steadily charting in the Beatport and Traxsource worldwide Top 10 charts and getting support from established media and artists all across the globe.

Over the course of their career, Fabrikate have released on labels like Amsterdam’s Armada Deep and The Bearded Man, but it’s right at home with Kookoo Records that they have kept a steady flow of releases. Debut album Bodies landed in 2016, and showcased their passion for appropriating early era electronic production techniques into modern dance arrangements. Elements of retro analog synthesis were cleverly blended with house, synthwave and electronica, with Bodies also featuring talented vocal top lines that captured a unique and haunting atmosphere. Overtime, the guys migrated from their electronica sound to more house music structured productions as they found a new joy in the art showcasing their productions in the form of Dj sets. Their sophomore album reflected just that: Made Me Feel blended both house music and disco influences into a sound that while heavily influenced by the sounds of the past, also manages to remain rooted in modern-day dancefloors, and takes inspiration from early Chicago and French house. Fabrikate fully realised their innate ability to pick out a wonderful sample and transform it into something almost overwhelmingly powerful. Their latest offering is a powerful single called Do It - a collaborative effort with longtime Montreal friends Sterling Grove. The track is a breakbeat powerhouse sampling the iconic vocal rap from Frankie Smith’s “Double Dutch Bus”, also featured in Missy Elliot’s (Ft. Ludacris) 2002’s “Gossip Folks”. Today, the guys still strive on paying homage to an era of which happiness and hedonism was the main focus of the music through their multiple ventures.
