Boston Bun

About

"With over a decade in the game and collaborations with industry heavyweights, French DJ and producer Boston Bun continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, blending his unique leftfield style with a bold vision that captivates both fans and the industry alike. First making his name with a flurry of releases on the iconic Ed Banger Records and quickly firmly treading his own path, it was his single ‘Missing You’ that saw him make his first international breakthrough in 2017, racking up over 35M streams and receiving support from Diplo and Mark Ronson to BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Danny Howard and Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. It was quickly followed by crossover banger ‘Spread Love (Paddington)’, amassing more than 30M streams to date. After a successful Summer playing at festivals like Tomorrowland and Leeds/ Reading, tours in Asia and the States, Boston Bun signed numerous promising fellows to his flourishing Circa ‘99 label, releasing club-ready records. His crossover into the mainstream sphere was further cemented as he delivered remixes for artists such as Cassius, MK, Riton, Metronomy and most recently Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus. The Boston Bun remix of Cyrus’ ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ saw supports from the likes of Pop Justice and BBC Radio 1 amongst many others, with Ronson inviting Boston to play at his famed Club Heartbreak in Paris and London and personally lauding the remix: “ever since Diplo played me Missing You this summer, I've been a fan of Boston Bun. I really really love this remix. So clever”. Signing with Island Records in 2019, Boston’s first release with the label saw him lock in his trademark feelgood house sound for ‘Don’t Wanna Dance’, hitting the Billboard US dance charts top 10. Then followed by “Stronger” out on Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records in collaboration with Dombresky, “Forty Deuce” lighting up dancefloors with incredible club support from Laurent Garnier, The Blessed Madonna, Groove Armada, Gorgon City, Jamie Jones, Purple Disco Machine… And multiple plays across Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss FM, Beats 1. In the meantime, he also produces for other artists such as Kiddy Smile and “Marea (we’ve lost dancing)” by Fred Again & The Blessed Madonna, which success has been on show for all to see. In 2021, he drops an anticipated debut album “There’s A Nightclub Inside My Head”, a love letter to club culture, released after the pandemic. Boston Bun pursued his journey with a rare determination, establishing himself as one of the first to envision the return of vocal house (modestly, he denies it). Several singles are being released on labels such as Insomniac, Kookoo and Diplo’s Higher Ground. Lately, Boston Bun took a break from touring and locked himself in the studio for a year, writing what would become his second album : “MIXED FEELINGS”. Initial demos were recorded in his south of France home studio, before heading to the north of France to hunker down and get them finished in an Airbnb. He had set up a group chat named Emo Factory with his Uncle and friend – two musicians who are “both quite out of the industry.” Being disconnected helped in volumes. “That’s really what I needed,” Thibaud says. “Sometimes you’re working with people who are too zoomed in.” Early 2024, Boston Bun joined the prestigious label Future Classic unveiling this new era with a single and live session for ""NEVER CHANGE// LET IT GO”, followed by an infectious featuring with UK singer Poté “MAYBE // YES”, the highly emotional single “SAVE ME” in collaboration with Bag Raiders and “NOBODY // ME” setting the stage for an ambitious new project and era for Boston Bun. “MIXED FEELINGS” album is thought of as a batch of emotional postcards. “Songs sent into the future, for a kid to find 100 years from now, describing how it feels to be alive in 2024. A lot of contradictory emotions, just core and timeless feelings. Certainly the most cinematographic way to listen to ‘MIXED FEELINGS’.” Boasting a fresh new side to his artistry, it’s an album that so far sounds distinctly Bun while fitting in with today’s sound. Placed under the sign of ambition, 2024 sees Boston Bun embarking on his first ever live show sharing the stage with a second musician, presenting these new tracks in Europe. "
