Igloofest 2024 Closes 16th Edition With Record Attendance!

The Crowd Brought the Fire More Than Ever!

Montreal, February 14, 2024 - Igloofest Montreal’s 16th edition came to a close this Saturday with record attendance. This year, some 118 000 festival goers took to the world's coldest dance floor at Quai Jacques-Cartier in Montreal's Old Port. With an increasingly diversified line-up that appealed to all ears, from families to night owls, Igloofest peaces out after many energetic and high-octane highlights, in the company of a particularly generous Miss Monique, and an audience who gave it their all.

Mission Accomplished for the Yetis: A Record Number of Festival Goers Had a Blast Outside!

This year, Igloofest boasted 93 660 festival goers at its main event, three nights of which were already sold out well before the doors opened (Diplo on Friday, January 26, Armin Van Buuren on Saturday, January 27, Eric Prydz on Friday, February 2). But it doesn’t stop there! To these numbers, we can add 7 624 partygoers at our Après-Ski nights and 16 714 people of all ages who come to enjoy themselves at Igloofête on four Saturday afternoons. These free events are growing in popularity, much to the delight of the Yetis, who are delighted to see that more and more children are coming out to play. Last but not least, this year's larger site enabled Igloovillage to extend its playful activities to both sides of the Sapporo stage, with a more fluid flow of traffic and a variety of activities, including the Vidéotron Dep and its famous marshmallows, the unmissable Sapporo slide, the Poppers Iglooswag contest, National Bank’s dynamic Igloogym, Loto-Québec’s lucky moments, the Cadbury chocolate zone, and the Polar Ice ball pit.

Musical Highlights

In terms of artistic programming, this edition was particularly rich in memorable performances, and is sure to be one for the books. Starting with the wacky, electric, and entertaining Marc Rebillet, as well as the fiery hyperpop of Romanian rising stars Himera. Who could forget the legendary Armin Van Buuren, who will forever reign as one of the world's most memorable EDM artists. Nostalgix literally set Igloofest ablaze with their insane energy and party 90s beats. The legendary Detroit duo Floorplan offered one of their heartfelt journeys through original techno, while 100 Gecs turned everything upside down for all the right reasons! John Digweed and Sasha’s legacies were palpable in Christoph's performance, and what to say about the finale — as touching as it was incredible — orchestrated by none other than Miss Monique!

As for our teeming Montreal scene, let's not forget the superb first-ever performance at Igloofest by duo Sultan + Shepard. One thing's for sure: it certainly won't be their last! The Ferias collective's musical selection particularly impressed festival goers, proving once again that onstage chemistry is contagious and seeps onto the dance floor! Gab Rhome's set put a smile on everyone's face, as did Andrea de Tour, who reminded us that partying can also be a family affair. Last but not least, Igloofest was blessed to have the Afrotonik collective melt the Vidéotron stage away with their blazing beats.

Igloofest extends its warmest thanks to its coolest audience, who’s always ready to experience dancing in the cold during the heart of our Québec winter. To the artists, both those who made us dance and the VJ's who gave us a feast for our eyes, thank you! And to our invaluable partners, for their support and outstanding implication, we couldn’t do it with you. And finally, a huge thanks to all the cold warriors who helped set up the site and keep it running over the past four weeks.

Don't forget: the show goes on! Igloofest Québec starts on March 7!
